Women need self defense and concealed handgun training in Austin Texas

May 27, 2009- Austin, TX--     I have been getting many calls from women needing assistance in self defense and gun training.  Violence, threats and fear seem to be increasing.  I can effectively train women in self defense on a private, group or association setting in hands on self defense, taser, Handgun, concealed handgun, home defense, rape prevention or safe escape techniques.  

 I specialize in women's self defense.  I can effectively teach a woman to use a handgun like a trained professional in four hours.  No shooting experience needed.  I will work in self-defense and confidence training into the lessons and you can feel safe again very soon.  My students feel empowered very quickly.

Recent plot to bomb a Jewish Community Center reveals many criminal's intent to hurt people..

May 21, 2009- Newburg New York-     The FBI announced the arrest of James Cromitie, a/k/a “Abdul Rahman,” a/k/a “Abdul Rehman,” David Williams, a/k/a “Daoud,” a/k/a “DL,” Onta Williams, a/k/a “Hamza,” and Laguerre Payen, a/k/a “Amin,” a/k/a “Almondo,” on charges arising from a plot to detonate explosives near a synagogue in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, New York, and to shoot military planes located at the New York Air National Guard Base at Stewart Airport in Newburgh, New York, with Stinger surface-to-air guided missiles.  Beginning in April 2009, Cromitie, David Williams, Onta Williams, and Payen selected the synagogue and Jewish community center they intended to target, and conducted surveillance, including photographs, of military planes at the Air National Guard Base.

I am not Jewish and I am new to understanding Jewish and Israeli history.  As an American, I believe that I am ignorant as to the challenges that Israelis and American Jews have faced and face on a daily basis.  I have tried to educate myself by reading history books, training with Isralei's and having Jewish friends.  I want to do more.  I want to learn Hebrew.

I am willing to teach a Israeliself defense class at a JCC or other Jewish community group in Austin Texas in exchange for being taught Hebrew and as a community service at no charge to anyone.  I think it is my responsibility.  I will also teach gun deployment for those who need it for their safety.  Please contact me if you represent an organization.  Thank you.

Israeli Combat Shooting

A non-instructors perspective

I recently took a Israeli Combat Shooting course with Mr. Rob Hamic of Summit Security & Investigation and Summit Self Defense. I’ve carried a weapon for a living before and thought there was no way I would abandon the techniques I’ve been taught since day one.

When I first started using this program which is different than anything I’ve seen in American Law Enforcement. I honestly did not like it. I wasn’t used to drawing the weapon, racking the slide to load a round, and then firing without aiming (with the sights). About 30 rounds in to it and it hit me, this is good training.

We’ve all seen the movies where a Police officer is calm with his weapon pointed at someone, one eye closed aiming at the suspect and fires off two perfectly placed rounds.

Every “shooting caught on tape” paints an entirely different picture. Usually the officer screams something either a command or in to his radio, draws his weapon and starts shooting and running at the same time. Most of the time the firearm is nowhere near his eyes and he definitely does NOT have one eye closed.

There is extreme stress in a shooting and Hamic does a good job of making you feel some of that stress, and making you understand that if you are ever involved in a deadly force shooting you will NOT be calm, the weather will NOT be perfect, you may have to shoot with one hand, both eyes open, palms sweating, shaking, heart pumping, etc.

I’ve taken several courses and have had the instructors that hold your hand and tell you to take your time, breathe, slowly squeeze the trigger. Hamic instructs you and isn’t rude or mean and won’t yell at you but he lets you know if you’re doing something wrong and brings some reality to the training.

Hamic has always told me to “Train how you fight, fight how you train”. I think that is the best way to describe this course, a reality based instruction course for those who are serious about their ability to confidently carry and use a firearm if necessary. I recommend this training to all Law Enforcement, Military, Security and Civilians who want a fighting chance at winning a lethal encounter.

Tactical handgun training for Texas' finest.. Israeli Combat Shooting for cops.

May 17, 2009- Austin, TX--     I recently conducted training for Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors from Austin Police Department (in the rain).  The class was a success and I gave these Instructors more "tools" for their tool boxes.  I am proud to deliver this training and I am confident that many of the techniques that I taught will make it back down to the cops on the streets.

Law Enforcement training centers on gun deployment under stressful and violent confrontations, hand-to-hand tactics with emphasis on handcuffing subjects, knife awareness for 2009 and specific tactics and techniques for law enforcement trainers/ officers designed to keep them safe on the streets.  Each agency defines its objectives for the seminar and courses are custom tailored.
